Ultra Plant was struck with a chill it hadn't experienced in years and years. A freeze like this might've occurred long ago, when civilization still existed and the world wasn't overrun by wires and circuitry. Cords and Xurkitrees alike were covered in frost and flash frozen as Regice stepped forward, its very presence causing a blizzard.

"Oscar!" Howard let out a shout, his breath frosting as his hat and clothes began to cover in frost. "How're the energy readings? We must be getting close!"

They were here on a mission. A mission to find Regice's missing colleague. Regieleki. All the signs pointed to it being here. With Regice present, and Howard's Stakataka picking a path through the dead realm, they were bound to find something.

At least, Howard hoped so. Oscar was the techie. There was no data on Regieleki's wearabouts. Sapphire had found nothing. Rocket had found nothing. Whatever information they had, Howard had scoured from interviews and his own logical deductions. Hopefully they would be enough.

The Ultra Beast lumbered forward, turning into a platform so that Regice could cross a chasm. Howard followed behind it, barely responding to the cold.

PROMPT: STAKATAKA GUIDE THROUGH THE REALM

Howard may have been unbothered by the chill, but Oscar was the exact opposite. His slim body and thin skin was more suited to warm environments, so the cold tended to render him powerless. Luckily, his last excursion with mint frost through Shoal Cave taught him a valuable lesson and this time he would come extra prepared.

Oscar was suited up in a black parka, with his hood up over a black beanie that rested on his head. A large black scarf encircled the lower half of his face, protecting his delicate mouth and nose. He wore snow goggles to protect his eyes from the chilling wind, and big boots to stomp through the snow. His only poor choice were his black mittens, which restricted the use of his fingers in exchange for comfort.

Nevertheless, Oscar's cozy hands maintained a grip on his energy reader: a repurposed mineral analyzer that he made to hunt energy readings on the moon. Worked just as well here, all you had to do was point it in a direction and pull the trigger. The device would read the general energy levels of where you were pointing and report back to you on a little screen. It worked better at a closer range, but Regieleki's energy levels were so high they could be sensed from basically anywhere within the Ultra Plant.

Oscar had been using this device as a guide, leading their little search party toward the possible lair of the electric golem. Oscar had accidentally provoked the mysterious titan the last time he was here, waking it up from its slumber by activating a power spot deep within the plant. It was not an experience he sought to repeat, but if finding it will help Howard then he would do his very best!

Oscar's Xurkitree, Navitas, floated right above its master with a luminous Tail Glow. It would help light the way as they trekked through the treacherous dark of the Ultra Plant. As they crossed over Howard's Stakataka, Oscar would respond to his companion in a swaddled voice.

"We're on the right track. The readings are spiking in this direction. Can't imagine anything else giving off this much electricity."

Also can we talk about Regice for a second? Low key adorable.

"Good! Regice's power should neutralize be equal to its fellow creation. We should be able to weaken it! Possibly even capture it!"

Rocket could certainly find some use for a source of power so vast it could keep Hoenn alight for a century. It'd be a massive asset, and a piece of the greater picture. All five giants needed to be gathered to defend Hoenn from Eternatus. If the five were capable of defending the region in the past, then they'd be a great boon for Rocket.

Oscar would be able to use Regieleki, at least. The man was a savant when it came to engineering. An infinite power source could come in handy. Besides, Regieleki was an artifact.

It needed to be preserved.

"It could be the Zekrom that lives here." Howard shouted over the rising storm. Electricity crackled as the two delved deeper into the alien world.

"Regice recognizes something. We're getting very close!" Howard shouted over the increasing voltage. "It must be at the center of this electrical storm! Oscar!"

Howard pointed toward the electric storm as if it were not completely horrifying. Oscar found his legs shaking as the storm came into view, and it was not because he was cold because his pants were insulated. If Regieleki were anywhere, it would be there. Oscar took a deep breath, if that was where they needed to go then so be it. Regieleki was a required component for unlocking the other ancient secrets in Hoenn, they had no choice but to track it down.

The party marched forward, the air slowly becoming filled with static. The energy reader began to beep as they ventured even further, and to Oscar's shock he found that the meter on the screen was going haywire. "Aw shit, the readings are off the charts! I can't believe I got to say that." Oscar tossed the now useless energy reader aside, looking forward for any sign of the electric golem. Lightning rained around them, threatening to fry the party. Oscar found it very distracting, and so he pulled out some help.

Oscar let out his Manectric Havoc, who seemed a little rattled by the surroundings she was placed within. Almost immediately her purpose was made clear, as lightning struck her thanks to her Lightning Rod ability. The dog was dazed for a moment, waddling back in forth as she shook out the invisible birds flying around her head. Oscar sighed, "You gotta use Charge, like I taught you. Remember now?"

Havoc blinked, and began focusing as more lightning was drawn to her. This time her body internalized the electricity, empowering her instead of damaging her. With their lightning guard in place, the party was now free to proceed into the heart of the storm.

20 encounter and survive an electrical storm, a far more dangerous version of a lightning storm that involves even more electricity.

"Grrrr...." Howard let out a yelp as a lightning bolt struck his foot. He let out another yelp as one arced by, striking Havoc and charging the canine thanks to Lightningrod. It was a clever gambit, but could one Pokemon outpace an electrical storm? Could Havoc outpace Regieleki?

Howard was more likely to melt Regice by pissing on it.

"I don't see it! It's gotta be deeper in! We're not gonna find it at this rate." Howard held onto his hat for dear life as Havoc took the brunt of the force. He clapped Oscar on the shoulder. "Good thinking on the storm... Regice!"

⠉⠇⠕⠎⠑. Regice beeped. ⠃⠗⠕⠞⠓⠑⠗ ⠊⠎ ⠉⠇⠕⠎⠑.

Then, from its core, a bright light shot up into the sky, colored blue. Howard gawked at the beacon. Everyone and their mother would know they were here! If Ultra Plant had any stragglers, they'd know. Suddenly, Howard let out a shout. He nudged Oscar, then pointed off in the distance.

A yellow light was erupting into the sky.

"Oscar! There! The two giants are reacting to one another...!" Howard grinned wildly. This was spectacular news! If they could secure Regieleki's aid, then defending Hoenn would be a breeze.

Howard still had a smile on his face as a massive Hyper Beam shot towards him at the speed of thunder.

PROMPT: UTILIZE REGICE IN A UNIQUE WAY

Oscar beamed right along side Howard as a beautiful light beamed from the sky. Perhaps Regieleki would be docile because they brought another golem. Perhaps Oscar had nothing to fear after all!

No such luck. A hyper beam roared out of the clouds, and Oscar yelped as he grabbed Howard and dragged him to the ground. His attempt to rescue was unnecessary though, as Regice would rise to intercept the attack. Oscar struggled to get back to his feet after the maneuver, and required the help of Navitas to list him back into a proper posture.

Oscar recovered just in time to see their target descend from the sky. Just like the last time he had encountered it, Regieleki was massive. Oscar was starting to think that this was just a common trait among the golems, as all the ones that Oscar had encountered so far had been just as huge. The titan would need time to recharge, so this was their chance to weaken it.

"We gotta humble this oversized cumulonimbus! Navitas, try to blind it!" Navitas let out an echoing cry, rising to the Regieleki's height to deliver a Dazzling Gleam. The attack brightened up the environment, giving the party a brief chance to perhaps find a safer spot to hunker down. Oscar took note of an open 'tent' of wires nearby and pointed to it. "We should duck into there while we can!"

The two hit the ground with such force that Howard would be picking gravel out of his chin for weeks. Even if Regice had moved to intercept the attack from its sibling, Oscar had moved to defend his colleague. Why? Why would a member of Team Rocket do something like this?

Wouldn't it be best to let Howard disappear in a flash of light? Wasn't that what was expected of Rocket? They were all beasts, chained up and snarling against the common decency of the world.

Why had he pushed him out of the way?

Oscar's voice rang distantly in his ears. Nodding, Howard crawled towards the cover. Regieleki would be far more interested in its fellow construct than it would be in two humans. It had likely never seen a being like Regice in centuries. Such an artifact had experienced much, yet it was attacking them.

Why?

⠃⠗⠕⠞⠓⠑⠗. Shrill beeps erupted from Regice as it recovered from the strike. ⠉⠑⠁⠎⠑ ⠋⠊⠗⠑..

⠙⠊⠗⠑⠉⠞⠊⠧⠑ ⠇⠕⠎⠞. Regieleki responded from amidst the thunderstorm. ⠙⠑⠋⠑⠝⠙ ⠓⠕⠍⠑.

It darted about at the speed of lightning, too fast to target. With shrill beeps, Regice locked on to its target, though it did not fire. It simply stood in the storm, unwilling to assist Navitas.

"Regice! What're you doing?! We need to communicate with it! Incapacitate it!" Howard barked from the makeshift tent. He waited for Regice to release a Blizzard to fight back.

Even within the safety of the 'tent', Oscar could feel the static of Regieleki rippling across his body. Oscar dared a peek outside, watching the confrontation between the golems with perhaps a little too much reverence. "That thing's unreal. How are we supposed to incapacitate a pokemon this powerful?" Oscar turned away from the scene outside, rubbing his chin frantically as he tried to think of a solution.

"If it were just a machine or a pokemon made of flesh and bone I could see us wearing it down. However, being a monster of pure energy means it can probably fight indefinitely. Ugh, I wish we had Zapdos to absorb the electricity." Suddenly something clicked in Oscar's head, prompting him to snap his fingers and loudly chortle. "That's it! We don't fuckin' need Zapdos!"

Oscar pulled out his phone and hurriedly accessed his PC. Unsurprisingly Ultra Space did not have wifi, but thanks to a snap decision to download his PC data Oscar could connect to it without the help of the internet. Four pokeballs were warped in and dropped to the ground, and Oscar wasted no time letting out their contents.

Once revealed, Oscar's chosen party may appear to be--unorthodox. He had summoned three Dracozolts, which immediately began to dance around like they were just brought to a party. Their merriment was silence by the growl of the fourth pokemon, a scarred Jolteon named Killer. Killer was the head honcho of Oscar's nature reserve at the Mauville power plant, and he commanded absolute authority over all of Oscar's electric types. Havoc had been hiding in a corner ever since she entered the safety of the tent, but upon hearing Killer she would straighten up and join the others. Even Navitas, who had been watching the golems from outside, peeked in to see what occasion would draw out the electric alpha.

Oscar clapped his hands together and explained his plan to Howard. "This here's Killer. He and the three Dracozolts have the ability Volt Absorb. If we can get Regieleki to attack them, they could hopefully absorb all of its electricity and slowly weaken it!" Oscar then pointed to Navitas. "That won't be enough though, so Navitas will sneak up behind Regieleki while it's fighting the others and Ingrain itself directly into its body. From there it can absorb as much electricity as we need! Everyone on board?"

Navitas nodded but Havoc and the Dracozolts did not seem thrilled about fighting a massive electric golem. It was only after Killer barked in agreement that they would enthusiastically agree to the plan. Oscar rubbed his hands together, "Excellent. Get into formation and go make history!" Oscar saluted the troop as the set off on their operation, joyfully following from afar to provide commands should they be needed. He would turn back to Horward upon leaving the tent. "I won't let you down partner!"

The five electric types charged out toward the golems. Killer was leading the pack while Havoc stayed in the middle surrounded by the Dracozolts. The Dracozolts immediately started making a ruckus, one of them going as far to run ahead and start swinging his posterior to Taunt the Regieleki. Meanwhile, Navitas stayed at the far fringes and slowly floated his way toward Regieleki's backside...

"Zapdos? I don't even think Zapdos can suck up all this power!" Howard let out a shriek as his hair slowly frizzed up from all the latent electricity in the air. "That thing is an artifact of lightning itself! I've never seen so much power!"

No wonder Amor Rose wanted Regidrago. If Regieleki want capable of generating this much electrical energy, Regidrago would've been a force impossible to withstand.

"Oscar, you genius!" Howard shouted as his colleague spat out more Pokémon. Using several Pokémon as glorified batteries might've been able to drain some of Regieleki's power, but all of it? Such a thing had never been done before. They were breaking new ground.

So hey, why not make history?

Besides, Howard had little care for Dracozolts. If the abominations were fried, Howard wouldn't lose sleep. "Let's do it!"

⠙⠑⠋⠑⠝⠙ ⠓⠕⠍⠑. The Regieleki whirred as Oscar's Pokemon moved to surround it. As it beeped its defense, a Thunder Cage manifested above, intending to trap Oscar's Pokemon. As they prepared to trap the Dracozolts, Regice pushed them aside.

⠽⠕⠥ ⠓⠁⠧⠑ ⠋⠕⠗⠛⠕⠞⠞⠑⠝ Regice beeped shrilly. ⠽⠕⠥⠗ ⠙⠥⠞⠽!!!

Arcs of electricity zapped at the Regice, causing it to depower. Regieleki had paralyzed its brother. The difference in power between the two golems was night and day. Howard's Regice was far weaker than the Regieleki they were facing. When they fought it on that island, Regice had been unstoppable.

Now, it was struggling against a colleague. Rocket and League had broken it, somehow.

"Oscar, go!" Howard shouted.

PROMPT: Use Paralysis in a meaningful way.

Oscar's gambit worked out, but not in the way he had hoped. Instead of attacking directly, Regieleki began forming an electric cage to trap them! As Oscar looked up at the electric prison, he could do nothing but respect the golem's ingenuity. "Clever little fuck."

Before they could be captured however, Regice would come to their rescue. It would use itself as a shield, interrupting the cage and getting paralyzed for its trouble. As minor as it was, its sacrifice would prove invaluable to their effort. With Howard's encouragement, Oscar would press the attack. "Come on team, nobody lives forever! Charge!"

The strike squad moved in, unleashing various attacks to keep Regieleki's attention. Killer fired out a barrage of Pin Missiles while two of the Dracozolts had rocks thrown with Ancient Power. The third Dracozolt had no long-range attacks so it charged forward to Slam itself into the golem to hopefully absorb some electricity directly. Havoc just kinda stayed put, bracing for the inevitable retaliation.

Navitas continued its mission, carefully approaching from behind. If its allies could keep the pressure on, he should be able to get the jump on Regieleki soon...

"Little...?" Howard stared at Oscar with utter disbelief. "LITTLE!?"

If Regieleki was little, Eternatus must've been downright petite. Howard didn't want to know what Oscar wanted to consider 'huge'. Nonetheless, Regieleki was strong. Regice was stuttering under the arcs of electricity that were paralyzing the automaton. Why was it getting thrashed so thoroughly?

What was it missing?

"Regice, Hyper Beam!" Howard shouted desperately. Regice's pattern slowly blinked to life as a blinding orb of power manifested in front of the automaton. As it charged up its strike, Regieleki slowly began to deflate as Oscar's Electric-type Pokémon began to drain the Regieleki.

Then, something happened. Space began to distort as an unnerving sensation leaked from the Regieleki as a strange energy began to drain thanks to Dracozolt's Volt Absorb.

"Oscar, that's Dynergy!" Howard let out a shout. "It's like Regice! They have Dynergy powering them! We need to-"

In the blink of an eye, the Regieleki shook Oscar's Pokémon off, though it was far smaller and flickering with drained power, like a broken lightbulb. With a shrill screech, it sped off into Ultra Plant to recharge.

"Dammit! It got away!" Howard turned to Oscar. "We need to chase it. We need more information on it!"

Regice slowly beeped as it shut down.

The team's distraction was a success. As Regieleki tanked their attacks, Navitas would sneak up behind and Ingrain its tendrils into the golem's electric body. Navitas began to slurp up as much energy as it could, hanging on for dear life as the Regieleki thrashed its body. Oscar's slamming Dracozolt seemed to be the final straw though, as the Regieleki would begin leaking a strange yet familiar energy.

Howard would shout out that the new energy had to be Dynenergy, and Oscar nodded in agreement. It looked just like the energy that radiated out of the Power Spots around Sootpolis, plus its loss began to shrink the dynamaxed golem. Oscar sneered as the Regieleki struggled, "I think we've cracked this--"

Suddenly the Regieleki would unleash a tremendous amount of electricity, sending all of Oscar's pokemon flying. Even Navitas could not withstand the wave, spinning away like a top into the ground. Before Oscar could even process what happened, the Regieleki would disappear deeper into the Ultra Plant.

Oscar sighed as the dust settled; he understood their failure, yet he was still disappointed. Howard insisted that they follow the Golem, but Oscar could see the writing on the walls. He took stock of their situation, and they were in no shape to continue fighting. His pokemon were greatly fatigued, with Navitas even being knocked out from hitting the ground too hard. Then there was Regice, would seemed to be literally shutting down after the beating it took.

To top it all off, the effect of staying too long in Ultra Space was starting to take its toll on Oscar. He felt downright nauseous, this was probably going to knock him on his ass for a few days. Oscar shook his head, "We're not in a position to keep going. It will be better to head back and prepare for round two. We know it can be weakened, so next time we should have an easier time fighting it."

Oscar withdrew all of his pokemon and gave Howard a reassuring thumbs up. "We can beat this thing."

"I..." Howard sighed as Regieleki zoomed off. They had been so close to gathering another of Hoenn's golems. It would've made for an excellent asset for Team Rocket, and Regieleki was strong. Too strong. Why was it so much stronger than Regice?

When they had fought it that ruin, had it lost something? It had shattered, and Regice's shards had been recovered by Rocket. Slowly but surely, it had reassembled into a smaller form. That form was powerful, but it was missing something.

How would it be able to defend Hoenn at this rate?

Oscar was right, though. They had to retreat and reevaluate their position. There had to be a way to chase this artifact down. Pokémon. Howard corrected himself again. These things were supposedly Pokemon, according to Head Scientist Sato. Howard still struggled to see that, though.

Yet why had Regice wept when it found that effigy?

"You're right, Oscar. We can beat this thing. We can win. We can triumph," Howard's eye shined and his lip twitched from the static electricity. "We'll find it for Hoenn."
